John Pearson 1976 Signed Mondrian Linear Series Serigraph

A signed 1976 Artist Proof serigraph from the Mondrian Linear series by British artist John Pearson (born 1940). The print features gray, blue, yellow, and red layered equilateral triangle grids on a black ground. Angled lines have been removed from some of the layers to allow the bottom layer colors to peer through, creating a push and pull between the contrasting colors. The edge of the black ground is irregular. Marked "AP #1", dated and signed to verso.

Works from this series are in the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

 

Measurements: 

17" x 43.25" x 1" (frame); 12.5" x 39" (work).

Condition notes:

Some scratches to the frame. Small tear to the right side of the paper, which does not affect the print but is visible. Wear consistent with age to the print.
