A 1960s abstract etching of an angel by American artist Alfred Russell (1920-2007). The etching depicts an angelic figure upon a Surrealist style mosaic background. The etching is presented behind a cream mat in a gold tone rope-style frame. 

American Abstract Expressionist artist Alfred Russell studied at the Art Student's League, Atelier 17, and earned his master's degree at Colombia University. Russell exhibited his works alongside many well-known painters such as Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Ad Reinhardt, and Mark Rothko in both Paris and New York. Russell turned to figurative painting mid-life and taught at Brooklyn College. He is represented in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Condition notes:

Minor wear to the frame. There is some discoloration to the paper to the lower right.
