A 1948 oil on linen abstract painting titled, Apocalyptic Form by American artist Arthur Deshaies (1920-2011). The painting depicts an abstract fusion of shapes in brown, black, white, blue, and teal. The painting is presented in a black frame and is signed to the lower right corner.
Born in Rhode Island, Arthur Deshaies studied at the Cooper Union Art School until the outbreak of World War II. During World War II, Deshaies served as a paratrooper as well as an official war artist. After returning from the war, he studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and later Indiana University. Deshaies taught art at Indiana University, Florida State University, the Pratt Institute, and the Ogunquit School of Painting and Sculpture.
