An oil on canvas painting by the Spanish artist Francisco Sainz (1928-1988). Signed to the stretcher on the verso and most likely painted during the 1950s or 60s, the painting depicts an abstract figure surrounded by energetic and expressionist brushwork. The painting is displayed in a black and gold tone frame.

Born in Santander, Spain, Sainz fought in the Spanish Civil War as a young man and eventually moved to New York right before World War II. While in New York, Sainz became involved in Abstract Expressionist circles and became friends with Willem de Kooning, Alfred Leslie, and Lester Johnson.
