Marcel Janco Signed Limited Edition “5 Couleurs” Abstract Lithograph


A signed limited edition lithograph by the Romanian-Israeli artist Marcel Janco (1895-1984). Titled 5 Couleurs and signed to the lower right, this abstract lithograph features a gray background with a colorful arrangement of shapes in black, red, yellow, and orange. The print is displayed in a black wooden frame and a white mat.

Born in Bucharest, Marcel Janco was an architect, artist, and art theorist. His works spanned a wide variety of styles including Art Nouveau, Futurism, and Expressionism. Janco was also one of the originators of Dadaism and a leader in Constructivism in Eastern Europe. Persecuted by anti-Semitism during the 1930s and 40s, Janco immigrated to British Mandate for Palestine in 1941. He later was awarded the Israel Prize, the Histadrut Prize, and Dizengoff Price.
