A set of four 1950s Herman Miller DKR Bikini wire chairs with Eiffel Tower bases designed by Charles and Ray Eames. These chairs are comprised of a black metal base with chrome gliders on the four legs, white metal back, and the original black Bikini covers that are connected by a single button. The covers have the original Herman Miller tags attached under the seat with a patent dated from 1956-1959. 

Charles and Bearnice Alexandra "Ray" Eames are recognized as key figures of 20th-century design, architecture, filmmaking, and furniture. The pair met at Cranbrook Academy of Art and later found the Eames Office together. 

 

Measurements:

18.25” W x 31.5” H x 18” D (single chair).

Condition notes:

Wear present throughout. Rusting/chipping to metal. Red paint drip to one seat. Some white paint drips present. One button detached from seat (but included with purchase to be reattached.) Other age appropriate wear.
