Thomas King Baker “Bus Stop” Abstract Ink Drawing
An abstract ink drawing titled Bus Stop by the American artist Thomas King Baker (1911-1972). Unsigned, this work depicts a fashionably dressed woman wearing a matching hat, cape, and dress, black gloves, and holding a small handbag. Titled to the lower right, as well as marked "3d panel," the drawing is displayed in a gold tone wooden frame and a cream mat. Baker was known for his works made on scrap paper; often from banks or insurance statements.
9.25” x 11.25” x 1” (frame); 5” x 8” (image).
Toning to the paper. Some faint spotting or foxing to the paper near the left side and on the cape. Ink smudge at the base of figure's hat. Scratches to the frame. Frame has areas of gold finish that has flaked/rubbed off. Other age appropriate wear.
