William Itter 1980s Studio Pottery Vase

A 1988 studio pottery vase by the American artist William Itter (1942-2025). This vase features an abstract, hand-painted, animal print-like pattern, in black and orange. The vase is wide at the top and narrows towards the bottom. This piece is dated and signed to the underside. 

William Itter was an artist, philanthropist, award-winning art educator and collector, who made an impact on hundreds of students during his 35-year long tenure at Indiana University. His wife, Diane Itter, was also a painter, as well as a textile artist. After her passing, he opened the William and Diane Itter Object Study at the Eskenazi Museum of Art, where he donated his collection of art and memorabilia.
