A 1988 studio pottery vase by the American artist William Itter (1942-2025). This vase features an abstract, hand-painted, animal-print-like pattern, in black and orange. The vase comes in a rounded-rectangular, pillow shape. This piece is dated and signed to the underside.
William Itter was an artist, philanthropist, award-winning art educator and collector, who made an impact on hundreds of students during his 35-year long tenure at Indiana University. His wife, Diane Itter, was also a painter, as well as a textile artist. After her passing, he opened the William and Diane Itter Object Study at the Eskenazi Museum of Art, where he donated his collection of art and memorabilia.
