Amanda Block 1967 Signed Oil and Polymer on Canvas Abstract Landscape


A 1967 oil and polymer on canvas abstract landscape titled, Snow Scene, by American artist Amanda R. Block (1912-2011). Predominantly teal, the expressionist painting depicts a muse of color including black, golds, red, purple, green and cream. The painting is presented in a black wood frame and is signed "AR Block '67" to the lower right corner. The painting is also signed, dated, and titled to the verso.

Amanda R. Block began her art career at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and eventually went on to finish her BFA at the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana where she later became a drawing and lithograph instructor. Block became well-known for her large landscape expressionist work but ultimately proved her complexity as an artist through her figural art. Block's work has been included in numerous national exhibitions, private and public collections, and one-man shows.
