Betty Davenport Ford Signed Pottery Sculpture of Foxes
This product is sold out
A signed pottery sculpture by the American artist Betty Davenport Ford (born 1924). Signed along the back, the sculpture depicts two foxes, one of which stands on a stump along the back.
Born in California, Ford became interested in art at an early age. She studied at Scripps College with Albert Stewart and was the youngest artist ever invited to exhibit their work at the Dalzell Hatfield Gallery, a gallery famous for bringing modern art to Los Angeles. Ford also studied under Maija Grotell at the Cranbrook Art Academy where she earned a Master's in Fine Art in 1950.
4.5" x 4" x 2.5".
Minor wear to the underside. There is a small area around one of the feet that might be a crack (it's hard to tell, the way the pieces of clay are joined there are a lot of deep grooves in the piece that look like cracks but aren't). Please contact us if you're interested in seeing more photos.
