Brian Kane Herman Miller “Swoop” Modular Sofa

A Swoop modular sofa designed by American designer Brian Kane for Herman Miller. This set features four chairs, upholstered in orange, beige, brown, and gray, with black feet. A beige ottoman with matching black legs is also included. This couch can arranged in a variety of ways, allowing for a complete seating set with a loveseat, two chairs, and an ottoman. It can also be combined to create one sectional sofa, or any arrangement in between. The soda is marked with Herman Miller tags to the underside. 

Brian Kane graduated from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut with a focus on design. He has worked with numerous large design businesses, including the Metropolitan Furniture Corporation and Herman Miller. In 1989, Kane established his own practice, Kane Design Studio, and focuses on seating design. His interest in seating began with his design of the Herman Miller Swoop sofa, saying that the purpose of his design is so "that form-wise, with ‘swooping’ curves, that people can throw their arms or legs over and still be comfortable and well-supported."

32” x 32.5” x 29” (piece with arm); 28.5” x 32.5” x 28.25” (piece without arm); 24” x 24” x 16.5” (square corner piece/ottoman); 16.5” (seat height).

Condition notes:

Minor wear from age and use. Some minor discoloration and small minor stains to upholstery. Some other minor wear/discoloration to the upholstery. Some dents in the foam. Scratches to the feet. Other minor wear present.
