Carol Summers Signed Limited Edition “Pass” Abstract Color Woodcut
A limited edition color woodcut titled Pass by American artist Carol Summers (1925-2016). A white and dark blue sky hover above hills of purple. Flames from a red sun flow through a divide at the center of the landscape. Displayed behind glass in a gold gilt wood frame, the woodcut is signed and numbered 15/100 to the center in graphite.
American artist Carol Summers is extensively known for his woodcut process of printmaking. Born in New York, Summers studied at Bard College and at the Art Students League of New York in classical and studio arts. Summers developed a manner of printmaking known as the "Carol Summers Technique" which produces simple yet wildly vibrant color patterns. Summers' works are in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and others.
