After he was discharged, he attended Columbia University, where he met Jack Heliker. Since the 1950s, his work has been shown in galleries and collections across the country, including the Whitney Museum, the Tanager Gallery, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. He went on to found the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, Sculpting in 1964.
