A glass boat sculpture designed by the Swedish glass artist Bertil Vallien (born 1938) for Kosta Boda. Made in Sweden, the silver foiled boat is made of glass with a floating face and ball suspended within the boat body. Red and black abstract lines hover over the objects. The boat rests on a rectangular wood base. Marked “B. Vallien 7520064 Kosta Boda Lim Ed. 200” to the top. Also marked with a Kosta Boda sticker to the side.
Bertil Vallien is a highly respected glass artist and designer. In the 1950s, he studied under Stig Lindberg at the art school Konstfack in Stockholm. Best known for his work at Kosta Boda, Vallien is celebrated for sand casted sculptures. Many of these sculptures have the repeated motif faces.

Condition notes:
Uneven application of the silver including some flaking. Some wear to the base.
