Calman Shemi Signed “Amapola #2” Soft Painting Tapestry


A soft painting tapestry titled Amapola #2 by Argentinian-Israeli artist Calman Shemi (born 1939). Composed of textured felted cloth, this tapestry depicts abstract shapes layered with horizontal, vertical, and transverse lines. Splashes of green, blue, red, and gray hues marry over a blue-gray ground. The tapestry is imprinted "Calman Shemi" to the lower left corner and is signed and titled to the verso. 

Sculpture and painter Calman Shemi was born in Mendoza, Argentina, and studied under German-Israeli sculptor Rudi Lehmann. Shemi's artworks have been on display in over seventy solo exhibitions nationally and internationally in the last two decades.

Condition notes:

Overall good condition. Age appropriate light wear present. Some discoloration to the backing fabric. A fabric sleeve has been added to the verso for display purposes.
