An abstract watercolor and chalk pastel painting titled, Horses and Hounds, by American artist Carol Critchfield (1915-2009). This painting depicts horses and hounds amongst a colorfully dense crowd. The painting is signed to lower left and titled verso and is displayed in a wood frame and a cream mat.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Critchfield studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the American Academy of Art. Though she was known for her innovative paintings, her art career began in illustration. Critchfield exhibited often near her home in Arizona where many of her works were collected by local businesses, community centers, and clubs in and around Scottsdale.
