Harry Hilson Signed 1960s Oil on Canvas Abstract Painting


A 1960s oil on canvas painting by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Most likely from the early part of the artist's Bela Bartok series, this abstract painting features an array of shapes highly concentrated amongst the entirety of the painting. Vibrant layers of color overlap and meld giving a dimensional effect.  The framed painting is signed "Hilson" to the middle left side and displayed in a black wooden frame.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-2000. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, and more. His studios could be found in New York, Los Angeles, and Aspen.

Condition notes:

Minor craquelure to where paint has been applied impasto. Some scuffs  and scratches to the frame. There is some discoloration to the canvas as well as some discoloration to some of the white oil paint. Some chips to the paint. Other age appropriate wear present.
