A 1970s batik of an abstract jack playing card by American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). The batik depicts a knave suited with a sword in his grasp and a stylized letter "J" to the lower right. The batik is stretched over a stretcher and is displayed in a simple natural black wood frame. Signed "Hilson" to the bottom left.
Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-2000. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, and more. His studios could be found in New York, Los Angeles, and Aspen.
