John Axton Signed “Kachina Chants” Limited Edition Intaglio Print

A 1986 limited edition intaglio print by American artist John Axton (born 1947). Titled Kachina Chants, Axton has created a serene scene of light trickling upon the exterior of an adobe dwelling in this print. A shadow is cast at the entry wall of the adobe dwelling where a light blue door contrasts with the light pink structure and peek of blue sky. The work is presented behind cream mat in a wood frame and signed, dated, and numbered "65/65" to the bottom.

John Axton graduated from Southern Illinois University's commercial art program. He moved from Illinois to New Mexico in 1979 and takes influence from Southwestern culture. Axton is known for minimal landscapes that create a feeling of peace.
