Adja Yunkers Signed 1960s “Salt II” Limited Edition Abstract Lithograph
A 1960s limited edition lithograph titled Salt II by the Russian-American artist Adja Yunkers (1900-1983). The lithograph depicts a coiled cyclone in black with an inclement cloud hovering above the abstract vortex. Displayed behind a white mat and in a wooden frame, the print is signed to the bottom right and numbered, "39/100R" to the lower left.
Adja Yunkers was born in the Russian Empire and studied art in Berlin, Paris, London, and Leningrad. Yunkers published and edited both the ARS and Creation art magazines when he lived in Stockholm during the 1940s. He moved to the United States thereafter, and is widely known for his Salt and Skies of Venice lithograph series created in the 1960s. Yunkers works are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum, the Hirshorn Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, as well as others.
