A 1996 handcrafted architectural wall shelf by the American designer Phil Tennant. Signed to the back and dated, the shelf is made of wood with hammered metal veneer. Graduated molding with a dentil bedmould is affixed to a decorative column forming the shelf.
Phil Tennant taught at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis where he founded their Furniture Design program. His works have been featured in numerous museums as well as the magazines American Craft Magazine, Fine Woodworking, and Studio Furniture
