Toshiyuki Tanaka 1976 Signed Limited Edition Abstract Lithograph


A 1976 abstract lithograph print by Japanese artist Toshiyuki Tanaka (1928-2006). The print depicts a peach offset orb surrounded by geometric shapes in yellow, white, black, and blue. The print is numbered "53/82" and is signed and dated to the lower portion. Presented behind a blue mat, the lithograph is framed in a black frame.

Toshiyuki Tanaka was a science teacher and self-taught artist known for his large scale mosaic murals depicting overlapping painted circles. He eventually had formal training and studied drawing under Junkichi Mukai. Tanaka became a successful artist eventually leaving his teaching profession to pursue painting exclusively.

Condition notes:

Wear including scratches, scuffs and marks to the frame. Water stain to the pink circle, about 1.25” x 1”. Another stain to the edge of the pink circle. Toning to the paper. Some loss of color to the blue band in the top right corner.
