Edith Smilack “Moment of Time” 1959 Bronze Brutalist Sculpture


An abstract brutalist sculpture in bronze by artist Edith Smilack (1915-2002). Titled Moment of Time, this abstract work features jagged, seemingly random bronze elements join to form this highly gestural work. The sculpture features a rustic finish to the bronze and a marble base. Tag with artist information present on the underside.

A scholarship fund in the name of Edith and her husband Oscar was established at Thomas Edison State University in New Jersey.

"The Edith and Oscar Smilack Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 to provide financial support to undergraduate students and applicants at Thomas Edison State University who demonstrate a commitment to making a contribution to the improvement of society through study of the arts, human services or political science."
