A signed acrylic on canvas painting by American artist Edward Lewis (1914-1992). The work, titled Landscape with Yellow Sky, is from the 1970s. This hard edge abstraction work makes use of sweeping curved lines in the background and foreground which allude to a prairie or Southwestern landscape. Lewis began the work in the mid-70s and continued to work on it through 1990. Signed, titled, and dated over the course of its creation to verso.

Edward Lewis was an artist and art professor who taught at Sioux Falls College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. Lewis studied in Los Angeles and Minneapolis before serving in the Army in World War II. Lewis pursued his PhD throughout the 1950s, and eventually graduated from Ohio State University in 1959. Lewis retired to Kansas City and taught private classes through the end of his life.

Some discoloration to the edges. One dent to the canvas in the upper yellow sky. Discoloration and wear to canvas verso. Some wear and discoloration around the edges and sides of the canvas.
