Elaine Hyman Signed Carved Stone Sculpture of an Abstract Figure
A stone sculpture by the American artist Elaine Hyman (born 1929). Carved from a green marble, this substantial sculpture features the abstract and rounded form of a human figure best backward against rounded biomorphic shapes. Signed "E. Hyman" along the lower back, the sculpture is to a metal rod that rests in a clear acrylic base.
Born in New York, Hyman studied at New York University, Syracuse University, and the New School for Social Research. Hyman studied under the sculptors Erna Weill, Chaim Gross, and Lorrie Goulet.
