An oil on wood panel of a nude figure by American artist Flora Lauter (1874-1952). A nude female figure sits on the right side of the scene, her black hair in a bun, her body twisted away from the viewer. Bright blue, purple, and red brushstrokes decorate the background of the work. Portions of the original wood panel are visible throughout the composition. Signed "F.L." to the lower right, the painting is displayed in a black frame.
Flora Lauter was born in New York City, but spent much of her life in the Midwest. She attended Indiana School of Art and John Herron Institute of Art, on top of her New York studies at Chase School of Art and Henri School of Art. Some established artists Lauter worked alongside include T.C. Steele, William Forsyth, and William Merritt Chase, amongst others.

Condition notes:
Some scuffs and scratches to frame. Frame wood splintered to the bottom left side.
