Francesco Martinuzzi Italian Art Glass Sculpture After Diego Giacometti
An Italian art glass sculpture by Italian glass artist Francesco Martinuzzi inspired by the art of artist Diego Giacometti, brother of modern artist Alberto Giacometti. At one point a master glassblower at Fucina degli Angeli, Martinuzzi became well-known after creating the glass sculpture Il Centauro after a design by Pablo Picasso for Dalla Venezia e Martinuzzi.
This black glass sculpture features a slender and elongated human figure reminiscent of Giacometti's bronze sculptures. The figure stands on a round clear glass base and is marked "D. Giacometti" and "F. Martinuzzi - Murano" along the lower portion of the sculpture.
Sculpture, 6" x 16" x 6".
