Gerhard Fietz 1954 Signed “Structural Pressure No. 3” Abstract Serigraph on Linen
A 1954 abstract serigraph on linen titled, Structural Pressure No. 3, by German artist Gerhard Fietz (1910-1997). A red lobe projects into the foreground of the serigraph extending towards a cluster of white and yellow scrawled lines. Blue and white circular formations are present upon the black background. The serigraph is presented mounted on a black mat in a wood frame and signed and dated to the lower right corner.
Well-known post-WWII artist and ZEN 49 member Gerhard Fietz was born in Breslau, Germany in 1910. His professional training took place at the Breslau Art Academy under Alexander Kanoldt and Oskar Schlemmer and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Heinrich Nauen. Fietz's compositions varied throughout his lifetime and continuously evolved in style and subject matter until his death in 1997.
