Grace Afonso was born in Ontario and attended a specialty arts high school where she learned to nurture her love of painting. Afonso received a BSN from McMaster University, but continued to explore her passion for art. She continued her art's education at the Dundas Valley School of Art, OCAD University, Haliburton School of Art + Design, and completed residencies in Italy and France.
