A lithograph by German artist Hans Orlowski (1894-1967). Dated 1962 to the lower center, the lithograph depicts an abstract composition of a face in profile. Blocks of black, orange, and purple color are layered throughout the print.
A printmaker as well as a painter, Orlowski studied art under Harold Bengen at the Training Academy of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin. However, his studies were interrupted as a result of World War I. After the war, Orlowski continued his studies under Philipp Franch and after receiving his degree he later taught at the Decorative Art Academy at the Charlottenburg location. Orlowski was a member of the Berlin Secession.
