Hans Orlowski Signed Lithograph of an Abstract Portrait
A signed lithograph after a woodblock print by German artist Hans Orlowski (1894-1967). Signed to the lower right, the lithograph depicts an abstract rendering of a face with shell and dragonfly accenting either side. The lithograph is displayed in a gold tone frame with a white mat.
A printmaker as well as a painter, Orlowski studied art under Harold Bengen at the Training Academy of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin. However, his studies were interrupted as a result of World War I. After the war, Orlowski continued his studies under Philipp Franch and after receiving his degree he later taught at the Decorative Art Academy at the Charlottenburg location. Orlowski was a member of the Berlin Secession.
