A 1961 signed abstract ink and watercolor painting titled Stage Set by American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Signed, titled, and dated on the bottom edge, this work is comprised of black watercolor and black ink repeated designs with elements from a theatrical stage set visible. The painting is displayed in a gold tone wooden frame and a white mat.
Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.
