A signed 1963 abstract ink and watercolor painting by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Titled #13 of the Window, this piece is part of a series done by the artist of an abstracted view out of his window. Black and gray lines create an abstract window form with a red-brown dot to the center left of the window. A black splatter design is located at the center of the piece. Signed and dated to the lower left, the painting is titled to the lower right and displayed in a black frame and a white mat.
Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.
