A 1970s batik by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Signed to the lower right, the batik features a composition of layered shapes and lines in blue, green, red, yellow, black, and white. The batik is displayed in a black wooden frame.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.

Condition notes:

Some spotting, color bleeding, and creases that are natural to the batik process. The stretcher supports are somewhat visible through the fabric. Minor wear to the frame.
