Harry Hilson Signed 1970s City Series Batik

A 1970s batik with an abstract design by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Signed to the bottom right and from the artist's City Series, this stretched batik features an array of structural shapes in orange, green, and brown, with black outlines. The piece is displayed in a black wooden frame.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-2000. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, and more. His studios could be found in New York, Los Angeles, and Aspen.

Condition notes:

Some loose threads present as well as some very small holes where a sewn hemline used to be present. Minor paint spots and some discoloration. Some scuffs to the frame. Other age appropriate wear.
