A 1970s signed self-portrait king playing card batik by American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Alluding to Hilson's other work, the background of the "card" features an abstract landscape, with a sun and moon in the top corners. The "card" has two suites, a club and a heart. The figure, a self-portrait of the artist, is depicted in royal garb. Displayed in a black wooden frame, the piece is signed to the lower center.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-2000. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, and more. His studios could be found in New York, Los Angeles, and Aspen.

Condition notes:

Scuffs and scratches to frame. There are several small pin-size holes around the edges of the fabric from where it was originally stretched. Age appropriate wear.
