Harry Hilson Signed Abstract Batik


A batik by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Signed to the upper right, this abstract work features a black design surrounded by marbled red, blue, yellow, and tan shapes. The batik is displayed in a black frame.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.

Age appropriate wear. Some stray pencil lines on batik. Scratches and some wear to frame. Faint crease to batik near lower and upper edge.
