A batik by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Signed to the lower right, this abstract work is predominantly blue with biomorphic black shapes throughout. The batik is displayed in a black frame.
Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.
