Harry Nadler 1960 Signed “Ladybug” Oil on Canvas Abstract Painting

An abstract oil on canvas painting by American artist Harry Nadler (1930-1990). Painted in 1960, the piece features a ladybug in the lower center of the piece. Gestural organic forms in blue, white, pink and yellow envelop the ladybug. Displayed in a black metal frame, the painting is signed "H. Nadler '60" to the lower right.

Originally from California, Nadler studied at UCLA and later taught at New York University, UCLA, the University of California Los Angeles, the Brooklyn Museum Art School, Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, and the University of New Mexico. Nadler exhibited widely during his lifetime and his works are held in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum, the Detroit Museum of Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy.

Condition notes:

Age appropriate wear. Scratches and scuffs on the frame. Some wear around the edges of the canvas. Craquelure present. Some chips in the paint, mostly around the edges.
