James Massena March Abstract Acrylic on Canvas Painting
An abstract acrylic on canvas painting by American artist James Massena March (1953-2021). This piece has a nude blue torso central to the composition. The torso is half a woman's body and half a woman's face. A darker blue stenciled vine design is overlaid onto the torso. The background features a blue stenciled design layered over a light green and blue background. Thick brushstrokes have been used to apply white crosshatching across the canvas. An artist's estate tag is attached to the verso.
James Massena March was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent most of his life living in Ohio. March attended The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Rhode Island School of Design for some time, eventually receiving his Bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University and Master's of Fine Art at Kent State University. His work is in the collections of PNC Bank, Cleveland State University, and Case Western Reserve University.
