Jens Quistgaard Dansk Crown Silverplate Candlestick Holders


A pair of silver plate candlestick holders designed by Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard (1919-2008) for Dansk Designs. The pieces are crown-shaped, featuring six high and six low points in a wave or zig-zag formation. Each is marked “Dansk Designs France IHQ” underside. 

After an early grounding in traditional handicrafts, Quistgaard began working as an industrial designer. Quistgaard was the head designer at Dansk Designs from 1954 through the 1980s. His tableware and kitchenware designs became synonymous with Scandinavian modern design and found their way into millions of homes in the USA, Europe and Japan. His work is held in museum collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, among others.

Condition notes:

Tarnish and discoloration present. There is a small amount of bubbling to the silverplate. Otherwise age appropriate marks, scuffs and scratches.
