Jens Quistgaard Dansk Designs Cast Iron “Lotus” #1721 Candle Holder

A mid-century cast iron Lotus #1721 candle holder with original box designed by Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard (1919-2008) for Dansk Designs. The candle holder features a round geometric design with twelve cast openings for slender candles that rests on six feet. Marked "Dansk Designs" and "Made in Denmark" on the underside.
After an early grounding in traditional handicrafts, Quistgaard began working as an industrial designer. Quistgaard was the head designer at Dansk Designs from 1954 through the 1980s. His tableware and kitchenware designs became synonymous with Scandinavian modern design and found their way into millions of homes in the USA, Europe and Japan. His work is held in museum collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, among others.

Condition notes:
Discoloration present including very minor spots of rust. Wax reside present. Overall age appropriate scratches, scuffs and marks. Damage present to the original Dansk box.
