An 1970 abstract found object metal hammer sculpture made by American artist Jim Love (1927-2005). The work is made from metal pipes akin to those used for plumbing. The sculpture is signed "Love 70" on one end.

Jim Love was born in Amarillo, Texas in 1927 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Baylor University. Love became an artist by chance, as he collected found material that was left behind from his job as a set designer at the Alley Theatre in Houston. Throughout his lifetime, Love held 19 solo exhibitions including "Jim Love Up to Now" at the Rice Institute for the Arts, as well as 80 group exhibitions. The 1961 "Art of Assemblage" at MoMA was the exhibition which launched his career. Love's works are held in many major American museums.
