Michael Boylen Signed Art Glass Vase
An art glass vase by American glass artist Michael Boylen (born 1935). The hourglass-shaped vase features a smoky hue with an iridescent blue and white swirl married through the length of the body. The vase is signed just above the base.
Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Boylen studied at Yale and the University of Wisconsin before studying studio pottery at the School for American Craftsmen. As a graduate student, he studied under Harvey Littleton and later set up a glass workshop at the Haystack School fo Crafts as well as the Penland School of Crafts. Boylen's works are held in the collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Corning Museum of Glass, among others.
