This lithograph was pulled from the publication Carnet de la Californie, a collection of lithographs faithfully reproduced from a facsimile of a sketchbook that Picasso worked in from "November 1, 1955 to January 4, 1956". According to the introduction of the publication, "On every page, whatever was traced by Picasso's hand has been reproduced with great accuracy by dedicated craftsmen using the most modern processes of lithography." The portfolio is comprised of 25 lithographs printed in color and spiral bound, from the edition of 1000 published by Editions Cercle d'Art, Paris.
