Paul Chidlaw Abstract Landscape Intaglio Print
An abstract intaglio print by American artist Paul Chidlaw (1989-1900). This abstract print depicts a brooding sky in purple, green, and black with a green and black landscape below. Stamped with an estate stamp to the verso, the print is displayed in a gold tone wooden frame with a white mat.
Born in Cleves, Ohio, Chidlaw was primarily known as an Abstract Expressionist artist. After studying at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Chidlaw moved to France where he was able to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Fountainbleau and later under the tutelage of the artists Jean Despujols and Andre L'Hote in Paris. After returning to the United States, he worked as a WPA artist painting murals and after WWII, he began teaching at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
