Paul Chidlaw Non-Objective Serigraph Print
A serigraph print by American artist Paul Chidlaw (1900-1989). This non-objective print features layers of black, red, green, and blue. Estate-stamped to the verso, the print is displayed in an antique black wooden frame and a cream mat.
Born in Cleves, Ohio, Chidlaw was primarily known as an Abstract Expressionist artist. After studying at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Chidlaw moved to France where he was able to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Fountainbleau and later under the tutelage of the artists Jean Despujols and Andre L'Hote in Paris. After returning to the United States, he worked as a WPA artist painting murals and after WWII, he began teaching at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
