Paul Chidlaw Signed Abstract Crayon Landscape Drawing
An abstract drawing by American artist Paul Chidlaw (1989-1900). Signed to the lower right, the drawing depicts an abstract landscape with a blue and yellow sky and a black, yellow, and orange landscape. The drawing is displayed in a frame and a white mat.
Born in Cleves, Ohio, Chidlaw was primarily known as an Abstract Expressionist artist. After studying at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Chidlaw moved to France where he was able to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Fountainbleau and later under the tutelage of the artists Jean Despujols and Andre L'Hote in Paris. After returning to the United States, he worked as a WPA artist painting murals and after WWII, he began teaching at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
