Pavel Molnar Signed 1987 Art Glass Postmodern Head Sculpture


A 1987 art glass head sculpture signed by Slovakian glass artist Pavel Molnar (born 1940). Two slabs of glass form a human head depicting an eye and brain matter. Shaped blue metal and mesh accent the glass. The piece is signed and dated to the back. 

Glass blower Pavel Molnar is a leader in the studio glass movement. Molnar attended the glass technical school in Železný Brod in the early 1960s and founded his own glass workshop in Munich in 1968. Molnar practices glass blown techniques of sandblasting and metallurgical engineering combining mixtures to create various glass color combinations. Molnar's work is held in many public collections within Germany, Japan, and the United States.

Condition notes:

Light rust towards the edges of the mesh where it attaches to the metal border, minimal color chipping on the metal base. Other age appropriate wear present.
